Roosevelt Base Camp

My family of four stayed here in July 2025 on our way through the redwoods and up to Oregon. The rooms were cozy and rustic-chic decor. We especially liked all the personal touches throughout the room. Management was awesome! They even mailed my daughter a souvenir she left behind!

Great stay. Carrie was super responsive. The 2 room suite was great. Nice fire pit. We went in January and basically had the whole place to ourself.

My wife and I drove 8 hrs from Yosemite to stay the night here with our dog and i love it! Carrie was very hospitable over email and text. It was so easy to book. They did an amazing job at making this place feel homey. I feel like im in a bougie college studio apartment not a motel! I wish we couldve stayed here at least one more night.

Roosevelt Base Camp is an outstanding location for visiting the Redwoods! The rooms are clean, nicely decorated, and the place has a really good vibe! We met some cool fellow travelers and saw amazing sights. It reminds me of a better version of the motels I stayed in on family road trips in the 70s and 80s. Definitely worth a stay if you are in the area.

Place is excellent location. Easy access to Redwoods nat and state parks. Everything was in order in the room. Had a few ants in the room that needed to be dispatched. Arrived on weekend and the pizza place across the way was closed.

We LOVED this place! Cute, comfy beds with soft cozy bedding. The owner was awesome and super supportive as we experienced a tsunami warning while we were there. (Everything was totally fine and safe) This place was the perfect jumping off point for so many cool hikes and sights. So yourself a favor and stay here. Only con is, other than pizza, you have to drive a bit for some good dinner options.

Like other reviewers, we loved this place. The rooms comfy and accommodating with nice bedding, good shower water pressure, thoughtful amenities. Felt like a homey situation. Owner was encouraging and reassuring. The market across the street was well stocked with many drinks, snacks, frozen meals, camping items. But for a meal, choice is only the pizza truck. You otherwise have to drive north to crescent city or south to Trinidad or farther. Fun to watch the deer in the morning put the back window.

We stayed 2 nights at RBC while we explored multiple redwood forests. It was the perfect location for this; you can travel easily to Jedediah Smith State Park and Redwood National Park. It's beautifully situated within a relatively short drive to all of these places, as well as to the coast in Trinidad, where we got a delicious breakfast at the Beachcomber cafe. The rooms are really nicely updated with comfortable beds, adorable green velvet couches. The bathrooms have everything you need and there are coffee makers in all rooms. I loved the extra touches, like popcorn in the rooms and the fire pit with all the supplies you need to roast marshmallows. Additionally, the owner sent a super helpful text prior to check-in with all kinds of useful tips about where to get meals, how to use the campfire, etc. The owner was super responsive when we reached out with (minor) concerns.
